Black British Ballet
Male and female dancer performing outside.

Audition for our black British ballet!

Friday 19 April 10am-2pm at English National Ballet

The Black British Ballet project is creating a 30-minute ballet performance that tells the story of Windrush and explores the impact of this generation’s experiences on their families, communities, and British society.

It aims to radically reimagine what black British ballet could be for a new generation: powerful, relevant, and rooted in our experiences and culture.

The piece was developed by Darren Panton who was the first black British male to go through the Royal Ballet School and Patrick Williams who danced at Alvin Ailey before joining Rudolf Nureyev at the Paris Opera. Greta Mendez MBE will be choreographing.

We are looking for male and/or female black ballet dancers to join our show.

Dancers must have a good contemporary background with a solid classical ballet foundation.

You must be available for rehearsals from Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 13 May to 7 June from 10am-3.30pm 2023 and for shows from 8-22 June 2024.

The fee for rehearsals is £100 per day and £60 per hour for performing.

Please email [email protected] if you’re interested and available to audition on Friday 19 April from 10am-2pm at English National Ballet, Mulryan Centre for Dance, 41 Hopewell Square, London E14 0SY.
